How it Works

Legal Binders provides a series of binders organized by case type. Each binder holds a series of folders, and each folder organizes the statutes, elements, case law and documents for that part of the work. Your office decides how its people use them.

How an office uses Legal Binders

Your office arranges the library

Create new binders of your own, hide binders your office does not use, and set the order. Inside any binder, create new folders, reorder them, and add or remove documents. Every attorney your office invites sees the binders set up the same way, by the standard your office defines.

Profiles decide what each person sees

Your office creates Profiles, such as Misdemeanor Docket, Juvenile or Homicide Unit, and assigns one or more to each attorney. As a prosecutor moves up, the office changes their Profile and their binders follow.

Roles decide what each person can do

Attorneys read. Editors create, delete and reorganize folders and add and remove documents. Approvers review and approve content. Administrators manage binders, Profiles, Roles and invitations.

Your Approvers approve the content

The binders arrive with starting content prepared from public statutes, court rules and published opinions. It is a starting point, not legal advice. Your office's Approvers review and approve each binder before your attorneys can see it.

No case files

Legal Binders is built to hold law and your office's work product, not case files. Its library contains no case information except what courts and legislatures have already made public in published statutes and opinions. Your office's own documents are templates and guidance; the site is not a place for defendant, victim, witness or case records. Acceptable use

Getting started

  1. Request an office account

Tell us about your office on the Contact Us page. We confirm the office and set up its account and its first administrator.

  2. Review and approve

Your Approvers open each binder, review its content, and approve it. Nothing reaches your attorneys until it is approved.

  3. Set your standard

Your administrators arrange binders and folders, add the office's own documents, and create Profiles.

  4. Invite your prosecutors

Invite each attorney with a Profile and a Role. They accept by email link and choose their own password.

See it for your office
